A brand new Sci-Fi Pop-up Library has opened at Parkway Parade, and it looks less like a regular library and more like the place where the main character discovers a secret AI system in a futuristic Netflix series.
Think chrome walls, green neon lights, sci-fi books, comics, graphic novels, original artworks and even an AI storytelling experience.
A futuristic library hidden inside Parkway Parade
Located on Level 4 of Parkway Parade, the new Sci-Fi Pop-up Library is a fully self-service library with close to 4,000 sci-fi books, graphic novels and comics for readers of all ages.
The space is designed with futuristic chrome walls and green neon ambient lighting, making it one of the most visually unexpected libraries in Singapore right now.
The pop up also features a sci-fi themed exhibition curated with support from The Imaginariad. Visitors can check out original paintings used on sci-fi book covers, including works linked to The Icarus Twin by Timothy Zahn and The Drowned World by J.G. Ballard.
There are also displays exploring different sci-fi sub genres, including space opera, dystopian worlds and cyberpunk.
For anyone who likes futuristic worlds, end of the world stories, robots, aliens, space drama or just anything that feels slightly unhinged but intelligent, this is probably your new happy place.

It also explores Singapore’s own sci-fi history
One of the cooler parts of the pop up is that visitors can also learn how sci-fi took off in Singapore from the 1970s to the 1990s, including a look at local sci-fi comic The Amazing Adventures of Captain V.
The pop up also highlights books by Singapore sci-fi authors such as Judith Huang and Vivian Teo.
There are even illustrations imagining what Singapore could look like in the year 2126, created by The Imaginariad in collaboration with artist Kristal Melson.
There is an AI storytelling experience too
Because apparently books alone are no longer enough.
The Sci-Fi Pop-up Library also features StoryGen, where visitors can discover well-loved stories using generative AI and see them come alive through an immersive visual experience.
There is also an educational panel explaining how generative AI works, along with NLB resources to help visitors better understand how to evaluate information properly.
Very 2026. Very on theme.
You can actually borrow books here
Visitors can browse and borrow books using the NLB Mobile app. There is also an interactive eReads screen where you can borrow and read sci-fi eBooks on the go.
Books borrowed from the pop up can be returned at any NLB library islandwide.
Some titles available include The Stars, Like Dust by Isaac Asimov, Spaceboy by David Walliams, The Road to Dune by Frank Herbert, Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, and local titles such as Sofia and the Utopia Machine by Judith Huang and My BFF Is an Alien by Vivian Teo.
