From 5.30pm nightly, its heritage kopitiam at 5 Craig Road transforms into Nanyang Nights (夜南洋). Expect neon lights, affordable beer, supper food and plenty of Y2K-era and 2000s nostalgia.
A Heritage Kopitiam That Changes Mood After 5.30pm
Nanyang Nights is exclusive to Great Nanyang’s original Craig Road flagship and arrives as the brand marks its third anniversary. After sunset, the heritage interiors remain, including antique furniture, vintage movie posters and old advertisements.
However, the mood changes after dark. Warm amber lighting and vintage-inspired table lamps create a softer glow, while neon 夜南洋 signage adds a nightlife feel. Meanwhile, staff complete the look with newsboy caps, suspenders and other retro accessories.
The Playlist Is Basically A 2000s Time Machine
The evening playlist includes Backstreet Boys, Westlife, Beyond, Jay Chou, S.H.E. and Girls’ Generation. Nostalgic films also play in the background.
As a result, Nanyang Nights brings together two different eras of nostalgia. The old advertisements and kopitiam decor recall an earlier Singapore and Malaysia. Meanwhile, the music takes millennials back to the days of CDs and MP3s.
S$4.90 Tiger Beer & Milo Cocktails
Tiger draft beer starts from S$4.90, while Guinness starts from S$5.90. That makes Nanyang Nights a wallet-friendly option for drinks around Tanjong Pagar and the CBD.
Nanyang Nights also gives childhood drinks an adults-only upgrade with five nostalgic milkshake flavours: Rose, Pandan, Coconut, Milo and Red Bean. Each costs S$8.90, while an additional S$3.90 lets you add a spirit such as Martell, Jack Daniel’s, tequila or Baileys Irish Cream.
Suggested pairings include Rose with Martell, Pandan with Jack Daniel’s and Coconut with Baileys. Red Bean can also be paired with tequila. Meanwhile, Coca-Cola, Sprite and Fanta start from S$3.90 and can be mixed with alcohol for an extra S$3.90. You can even add a scoop of ice cream for S$2.90.
