Singapore’s bubble tea scene is no stranger to fruit teas, cheese teas and brown sugar creations. But Molly Tea is taking things in a very different direction this June with a limited time collection built around one of China’s most distinctive black teas.
Available from 18 June 2026, the new Tongmu Lapsang Series combines the smoky character of Tongmuguan black tea with creamy cheese toppings and milk-based blends. The result is a flavour profile that feels noticeably different from the sweeter, floral drinks commonly found across most bubble tea chains.
What Is Tongmu Lapsang?
If you’ve never heard of Tongmu Lapsang before, you’re probably not alone.
Originating from Tongmuguan in China’s Fujian province, Tongmu Lapsang is a style of black tea famous for its smoky aroma and robust flavour. Unlike lighter floral teas such as jasmine or osmanthus, Tongmu Lapsang delivers deeper, earthier notes that are often associated with traditional tea brewing.
The tea has gained a loyal following among tea enthusiasts for its complex flavour profile. By incorporating it into bubble tea, Molly Tea is introducing a tea variety that many younger consumers may not have encountered before.
