A New 4-Star Hotel in Singapore for the Extroverted Has Just Opened: Mama Shelter

Written by Jon Phay

If you like a little chaos, a lot of atmosphere and the kind of place where dinner can accidentally become your entire night, then Mama Shelter Singapore might be exactly your kind of scene.

As the iconic French lifestyle brand’s first Asia outpost, Mama Shelter Singapore has now unveiled its full experience along Killiney Road at the edge of Orchard, bringing together bold design, vibrant dining and playful hospitality in one very personality-filled space.

Not Your Usual Hotel

There is nothing quiet, buttoned-up or overly polished about Mama Shelter. The Singapore outpost stays true to Mama’s playful identity while weaving in local character. Peranakan-inspired touches, bamboo-shaped furniture legs, peacock motifs and a striking hand-painted mural by Parisian street artist Beniloys stretch across the restaurant, lift lobbies and rooftop, giving the space a strong sense of personality.

The hotel houses 115 rooms across categories like Mama Room, Mama Bunk and Mama Terrace, with the Mama Bunk making its first-ever debut here. Nearly half the rooms come with private terraces, offering a little extra space to unwind.

Inside, the rooms balance comfort with character. Concrete walls are softened by patterned textiles and woven headboards, while playful details like Bugs Bunny masks keep things irreverent. Guests can expect plush 5-star bedding, soundproofed interiors, Dyson hairdryers, organic toiletries and TOTO smart toilets.

The Rooftop Feels Like a Social Playground

One of the biggest highlights of the hotel is the Mama Sky Pool, and this is where the extrovert energy really comes alive. It is instantly Instagram-worthy, with a mosaic-tiled pool, lush greenery, sunken game tables and an alfresco bar serving Mediterranean bites and signature drinks.

This is not a rooftop you visit just for a photo and leave. You stay. You hang. You sip, snack and see where the night takes you.

Dine & Dance

Then there is Mama Restaurant. This is not just a place to eat. It is where dinner turns into a full experience.

The space is vibrant, slightly cheeky and designed for you to settle in, unwind and stay longer than planned. You can start the night slow with food and drinks, then ease into the music and atmosphere as the energy gradually builds.

The highlight here is Mama’s Happy Meal, a grown-up spin on a childhood classic priced at S$39.90 for two people. Each set comes with two mains, free-flow fries, two drinks and a caviar touch that keeps things indulgent but playful.

But what really sets it apart is what happens after.

As the night goes on, the space shifts into Dine and Dance. Live music and DJs take over, and the restaurant transforms into a social, easy-going space where people linger, vibe and let the night stretch a little longer.

  • Wednesdays: Complimentary drinks for ladies from 9pm to 11pm
  • Thursdays: 1-for-1 house pours all night for industry professionals

This is exactly why the hotel feels made for extroverts. You come for dinner, but there is almost no reason to leave early.
