Common Man Coffee Roasters is launching a new Mahjong Social Club at its Joo Chiat outlet this June, and it might be one of the most Singaporean café events we have seen in a while.
Happening on 19 June 2026, the event is done in partnership with local collective Mahjong Lah, bringing together mahjong, Asian comfort food, drinks and casual social vibes in one cosy setting.

No Gambling, Just Good Vibes
The event keeps things casual and beginner friendly, whether you are a mahjong pro or completely new to the game. Guided gameplay helps newcomers settle in, while the non gambling format keeps the focus on food, play and conversation.
For those hoping to win big, sorry to disappoint, the organisers have removed the gambling aspect entirely. Still, nobody is stopping the losers from doing forfeits instead. Better yet, the event welcomes guests aged 12 and above, so even younger players can join the fun.
The Menu Gets A More Asian Refresh
The Seafood Dry Laksa Spaghetti might honestly steal the spotlight. The pasta comes coated in a rich, spicy laksa sauce before getting topped with prawns, fish cake and crispy panko crusted otah for extra crunch and smokiness. It sounds chaotic on paper, but somehow exactly like the kind of fusion Singaporeans would proudly queue for.
Then there is the Crispy Duck Curry, which feels like comfort food turned all the way up. The twice cooked duck leg stays crispy outside while remaining tender inside, soaking up a thick Singapore style curry that feels rich, fragrant and unapologetically indulgent. Even the toasted croissant on the side feels dangerously addictive.

The Drinks Feel Like Childhood Memories In A Glass
The drinks continue the same nostalgic Asian inspired direction.
The Kaya Toast Latte combines pandan, coconut, espresso and kaya foam, which honestly feels like kopitiam breakfast returning with a major glow up.
Guests can also try the Kinako Matcha Latte with roasted soybean notes and crisp rice pearls, while the Miso Lucky mixes white chocolate, white miso and soft mochi.
