Football fever is heading skyward this July as Singapore hosts its first-ever Drone Soccer Championship. From 24 to 26 July, secondary schools, tertiary institutions and club teams will battle it out in aerial drone matches at Perennial Business City, where visitors can also try the sport for free until 26 July.
What is Drone Soccer?
Think of Drone Soccer as football meets drone racing. Teams pilot protective-caged drones through an aerial arena, working together to score while blocking opponents. Beyond the action, the sport also introduces players to drone technology, engineering and problem-solving, making it a unique blend of competition and STEM learning.
The First Tournament
This three-day championship will be the first local tournament to bring all secondary schools, tertiary institutions and club teams together on the same platform. Younger students will get the unusual opportunity to compete alongside more experienced tertiary and club players, while teams can observe different playing styles and strategies.
The championship features separate categories for beginner and advanced drone pilots. Teams will compete for cash prizes, Aeroline Kuala Lumpur getaway packages and Huawei audio products.
Singapore’s National Drone Soccer Team Will Make a Special Appearance
Yes, Singapore even has its own national Drone Soccer team. Catch them in action on 26 July at 5pm as they showcase the fast growing sport before heading to South Korea for the FIDA Intercontinental Cup 2026. The team has already made its mark internationally with several podium finishes, and its members range from 17 to 57 years old, proving Drone Soccer is a sport for almost anyone.
