From 28 August 2026, Yum Cha will launch Mahjong Social Fridays. The weekly four-hour session combines mahjong, dim sum, dessert and Chinese tea. The S$38++ experience runs every Friday from 2pm to 6pm at its Chinatown flagship, with solo players and beginners welcome.
S$38++ gets you four hours of mahjong, dim sum and tea
The S$38++ package includes a mahjong table, a six-piece dim sum set, dessert and freshly brewed Chinese tea. Guests will play inside Yum Cha’s private room at its Chinatown restaurant on Trengganu Street.
You do not need to be a seasoned mahjong player either. Yum Cha staff will teach beginners how to play, while those coming alone can join other players with a similar experience level. There are no monetary stakes involved, so the focus is on spending an afternoon playing, eating and catching up rather than gambling.

You can register even if you are coming alone
Finding enough people for a mahjong session can sometimes be harder than the game itself. Mahjong Social Fridays removes some of that hassle by allowing guests to register individually instead of having to form a complete group beforehand.
Players will be matched according to experience level, which also makes the session more approachable for anyone who has always wanted to learn mahjong but never had the chance.
