Post-Songkran Blues? This Northern Thai Buffet in Singapore Has 50+ Dishes and Live Khao Soi

Written by Dania Rae

Missing Thailand already after Songkran? Same.

IIf you’re missing the spicy and tangy Thai food, this Northern Thai buffet in Singapore might be the next best fix.

21 on Rajah at Aloft Singapore Novena has launched its limited-time “Jai Aroy” Northern Thai Buffet, featuring over 50 dishes and live khao soi (Northern Thai curry noodles) — plus a dine 4 pay 2 deal that makes it even harder to say no.

Running till 21 June 2026, the buffet is helmed by a Chiang Mai chef with 18 years of experience, which explains why the flavours here hit a little different from your usual Thai buffet.

Why this hits different from your usual Thai buffet

This one leans into Northern Thai cuisine, which is less about creamy coconut and more about herbs, spices, and deep, aromatic flavours.

That means dishes like roasted beef with Chiang Mai herbs, packed with cumin, cinnamon, and kaffir lime, or a richer, more aromatic red curry with mussels and betel leaf. Even the roasted chicken is marinated overnight with turmeric and garlic, giving you that crispy skin and flavour that actually goes deep into the meat.

Even the fish dishes are done differently. The banana leaf baked fish locks in moisture while soaking up turmeric, chilli, and lemongrass, resulting in something lighter but still packed with flavour.

What you should actually eat

There are more than 50 items, so going in without a plan is a rookie mistake.

Start with the live khao soi. It is made fresh on the spot with egg noodles, a rich coconut curry broth, tender chicken, and crispy noodles on top. This is easily the main character here.

  • Roasted beef with Chiang Mai herbs for something rich and smoky
  • Banana leaf baked fish for a lighter but still flavourful option
  • Thai salads like yum woon sen or larb to reset your palate
  • Seafood on ice including prawns, mussels, and oysters

Coming for weekend dinner? The Thai street BBQ corner is where things get dangerous. Think grilled river prawns, lamb chops, and skewers you will keep going back for.

Desserts you will regret skipping

The dessert section is stronger than expected.

The mango sticky rice is a must, done Chiang Mai style with pandan infused coconut milk and a deeper flavour profile. There are also Thai milk tea cakes, glutinous rice donuts with palm sugar glaze, and traditional desserts like ruam mit packed with ingredients in coconut milk.

Planning a family meal? Go during these dates

The buffet gets an upgrade during Mother’s Day from 8 to 10 May and Father’s Day from 19 to 21 June.

Expect premium items like 8 hour brined beef prime ribs, char grilled Black Angus steak, and grilled oysters.

You can also add on a cake, flowers, and free flow Thai milk tea or roselle if you want to make it feel like an actual celebration.
