For nearly four decades, JUMBO Seafood’s flagship outlet at East Coast Seafood Centre has been part of family celebrations, tourist itineraries, company dinners and countless chilli crab memories. Now, one of Singapore’s most recognisable seafood restaurants is preparing to serve its final meals.
JUMBO Group has announced that its original East Coast Seafood Centre outlet will cease operations on 30 September 2026 when its lease expires, marking the end of a 39 year chapter that began in 1987.
The closure comes as part of a wider rejuvenation of the East Coast Park area, with the National Parks Board planning upgrades to improve the visitor experience in the surrounding precinct.
Mud Crab For S$39++ Until End July
To thank diners for nearly four decades of support before the final farewell, JUMBO Seafood is rolling out a series of special promotions over the coming months.
From 11 June to 31 July 2026, diners can order an average 500g mud crab for just S$39++, prepared in their preferred cooking style.
Meet The Founder And Get A Free Coconut
One of the more unusual farewell activities involves a face from JUMBO’s earliest days.
Mr Ang Hon Nam, the founding member of JUMBO Group and father of current Executive Chairman and Group CEO Mr Ang Kiam Meng, will be making appearances at the restaurant during the farewell period.
Diners who spot him, snap a photo together and show it to staff will receive a complimentary coconut drink.
Born In 1987? You Get A Free Dessert
JUMBO is also celebrating people who are exactly the same age as the restaurant.
Diners born in 1987 can enjoy a complimentary dessert when they present a valid photo ID.
That means anyone turning 39 this year gets a sweet reward for sharing a birth year with the seafood giant.
The Last Hosted Dinner
Before the restaurant closes for good, JUMBO plans to host a ticketed Grand Finale Dinner at the seaside venue.
The event will bring together long time customers, partners, friends of the brand and members of the public for one final gathering where the JUMBO story first began.
Tickets are expected to start from around S$1,000 per table of 10, with 100% of proceeds donated to 10 charitable organisations.
Further details, including the event date, menu and beneficiaries, will be announced in the coming months.
Another Singapore Icon Quietly Disappears
JUMBO Seafood’s East Coast outlet joins a growing list of familiar Singapore spots saying goodbye.
Recently, Golden Village Tiong Bahru closed after 32 years, while The Mind Cafe announced the closure of its original outlet after 21 years.
Even Snow City Singapore revealed plans to close for redevelopment, reminding Singaporeans how quickly nostalgic places can disappear.
Maybe the only constant in life really is change.
