The Wan Qing Mid-Autumn Festival is back with an exciting weekend of offerings for the young and old. This year, visitors gets to experience releasing of sky lanterns, laser show, mooncake tasting, lantern-making workshops, storytelling of Mid-Autumn tales, alfresco concert performances and more.
Release of Sky Lanterns
The organizers will be releasing three 1.2-meters sky lantern helium balloons for the very first time on 7 September 2019 at 7.30pm. These sky lanterns will continue to hover above the event area.
Laser Show
Also happening for the first time on both days at 7.15pm and 8.15pm, this 3-minutes outdoor laser show is a symphony of color visual projections, laser beams and mist effects set to a moving orchestral soundtrack telling the story of the origins of Mid-Autumn Festival.
Alfresco Evening Concert
There is also an evening concert happening from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on both nights. Concert highlights include an interactive drama performance on the legends of Mid-Autumn Festival, Chinese belly-dancing, live music performances and more.
Game Carnival & Snacks
Simply collect an activity passport, play the games at the carnival to collect stamps and win a mystery prize. There are also traditional local snacks including mee siam, curry puffs and more available for sale.
The carnival starts at 11am on both days and end at 7pm.
Workshops
There are also workshops to teach visitors how to make sky lanterns, flower sculptures, mooncake box, Jade rabbit mooncake, Snow-skin mooncake (S$5 per pax), paper lantern coloring workshop and more.
