The Singapore EDITION is giving familiar local flavours a playful makeover for National Day. Instead of serving another standard hotel buffet, it has created a limited-time afternoon tea menu with chilli crab, caviar, pulut hitam and a cake that looks like kaya toast.
A Cake That Looks Like Kaya Toast
The biggest conversation starter is the aptly named Cake as Toast.
At first glance, the dessert looks like a thick slice of Singapore-style kaya toast. Cut into it, however, and you will find layers of pandan coconut mousse, gula melaka crémeux and kalamansi mango coulis. Toasted coconut feuilletine also adds a nutty crunch.
The cake costs S$18 and is available throughout August at Lobby Bar. Diners can enjoy it at the hotel or order it for takeaway.

Spring Field And Orchard Bloom Afternoon Tea Sets
From 5 to 9 August, guests can choose between two versions of The Singapore EDITION’s National Day Afternoon Tea.
Spring Field costs S$58 per person. Its key National Day addition is a Chilli Crab Tartlet, which replaces the usual Crab Tartlet.
Meanwhile, Orchard Bloom costs S$78 per person and offers two notable upgrades. Its Chilli Crab Tartlet comes topped with Oscietra caviar. In addition, a Pulut Hitam and Coconut Black Glutinous Rice Gelato replaces the usual Chocolate Crepe.
More Than Just Food
Throughout August, The Singapore EDITION will also shine a spotlight on Singapore’s creative talent with a series of live performances across Wonder Room, Punch Room and Lobby Bar.
The line-up kicks off on 14 August, when Wonder Room teams up with local fashion label UNLYK for a showcase featuring DJs Shoba and RAAJ, alongside rappers Slick Bobby, Opus Renegade and Martin Spacely.
On 8 August, Punch Room welcomes DJ Ya5th to the decks. The celebrations continue on 27 August, when digital artist Anudraj Jude headlines the monthly ICONS series at Lobby Bar, joined by DJs Anwar and Zushan.
