From Movie-Famous Kueh to Tea Gelato, Explore These Teochew Flavours
If Dear You 给阿嬷的情书 left you curious about the chive-filled bo bi kueh (无米粿) featured on screen, here’s your chance to try it. The festival also serves rice png kueh, herbal cudweed kueh and crystal bamboo shoot kueh, giving you plenty of reasons to explore beyond a single movie-famous bite.
Alongside familiar favourites such as Teochew braised duck rice with tau kwa, look out for dishes making their first appearance at the festival: Kityang stir-fried kway teow with bamboo shoots, Nam Ao seaweed fried rice and luo tang qian, a glutinous rice mochi with peanut and sesame.
Save room for Dan Cong tea gelato and tang cong bo bing, a malt candy wrap, or go for classics such as orh nee, tau suan and ah bo leng, rice balls in sweet soup. Braised sweet yam, Teochew mung bean pastry and iced Dan Cong tea round out the selection. Food offerings are subject to availability.

Stay for Opera, Music and Gongfu Tea
Five local Teochew opera and music groups come together for their first joint performance at the festival, with individual groups performing across the weekend. Catch Saturday and Sunday shows from 11am to 1pm, and evening performances from 6pm to 8pm daily. Visitors without food coupons can watch a live video feed in a separate viewing area.
There are also Teochew Gongfu tea demonstrations, offering a closer look at the traditional brewing practice rooted in Chaozhou’s culture of hospitality.

Walk-in coupons are still available
The 1,000 complimentary coupons released for online reservation were taken within an hour. However, the organisers have also allocated 300 complimentary food coupons for each session for walk-ins.
These will be distributed in batches of 100 per hour, on a first-come, first-served basis, while stocks last. A visit does not guarantee a coupon, and no coupons will be sold on-site, so keep that in mind when making plans with friends or family.
