Japanese speakeasy bar Ume San 100 is serving a S$19.90++ ramen set inspired by Japan’s convenience stores. Hidden behind a row of vending machines at Fortune Centre, the bar pairs truffle ramen with fried chicken, fries and housemade ume cola. Each set also comes with a turn at the gachapon machine for a surprise reward.
The S$19.90++ ramen set includes four items
The centrepiece is Truffle Ramen topped with two prawns, a ramen egg and fish cake. Alongside it are Crispy Fries and Umechiki, the bar’s take on Japanese convenience-store fried chicken.
You can choose a spicy or non-spicy set, with the selected spice level applying to both the ramen and the chicken. Each set also comes with housemade Ume Cola, which combines homemade cola with ume syrup. For an additional S$5, you can add whisky or vodka to your drink.

Keep your receipt for a gachapon reward
Each set comes with a Japanese-style receipt that lets you try the gachapon machine for one of four rewards. These range from a complimentary drink to a return voucher, although each comes with a spending or purchase condition.
The reward adds a little suspense to the end of your meal. Check the redemption terms with the staff to find out whether yours can be used during the current visit or saved for another day.
More than 100 umeshu varieties to explore
The ramen set is a new addition to a bar that opened in May 2023. Ume San 100 carries more than 100 varieties of umeshu, the Japanese plum liqueur, alongside 13 highball options.
If the lengthy drinks list leaves you unsure where to begin, the Low-ABV Taster Set at S$15++ offers three floral varieties: rose, lavender and jasmine. Highballs include the Ume Whisky Highball at S$14++ and Premium Toki Highball at S$15++.

Sichuan-inspired beef ramen & more
For friends ordering beyond the set, new dinner dishes include Spicy Beef Ramen at S$18++, inspired by Sichuan-style beef noodles with heat and a lightly numbing spice.
There is also Mentaiko Pasta with Seared Scallops at S$22++ and a Foie Gras Bara Chirashi Don at S$24++, which combines foie gras, salmon, tuna and tamago over sushi rice.
A daytime visit is possible too. Ume San 100 opens for lunch daily, with options starting at S$8.90 nett.
