No Holds Barred Review: Is Exploria Mandai Wildlife Reserve Worth Going?

Written by Kelly Khor

No animals. No sweating. Just lights, projections and a fully indoor nature experience. That is what Exploria at Mandai is trying to be and depending on what you expect, that can either be a refreshing change or a slight letdown.

Exploria is Mandai’s newest indoor attraction, officially opened on 3 March 2026. It offers a different kind of wildlife experience in Singapore, moving away from traditional animal exhibits and instead bringing visitors through immersive digital environments that recreate ecosystems using light, sound and interactive elements.

The attraction features five themed environments, ranging from prehistoric worlds to microscopic ecosystems. Visitors can expect a fully indoor, air conditioned experience that is visually engaging and easy to navigate. Throughout the journey, interactive wristbands allow you to trigger installations and track your participation, adding a light gamification element to the overall experience.

Inside the Biopool: Where Everything Comes Alive

Exploria is designed as a walk through experience across multiple immersive zones, but the one space that stands out most is the Biopool. It sits at the centre of the attraction, with a large interactive globe and projections that react to visitors.

As you move around and interact using your wristband, your actions contribute to visual changes on the globe, reinforcing the idea that even small actions can affect the wider ecosystem. It is easily the most visually striking part of Exploria and also where the interactive elements feel the most effective.

Key hourly experiences

Exploria also features two key experiences that take place throughout the day at the Biopool. These timed light and sound segments give the attraction some structure, so if you want to catch its biggest visual moments, it is worth planning your visit around them.

The Planet Awakens
This is the main showcase experience at Exploria, where the Biopool transforms with synchronised projections, light and sound. The show runs approximately every two hours at 11:15am, 1:15pm, 3:15pm, 5:15pm and 7:15pm, with each session lasting around 5 minutes. It is one of the strongest reasons to stop and linger in the central space.

Disruptive Moments
These are shorter narrative segments that appear periodically throughout the experience. Rather than fixed showtimes, they are triggered at intervals and last a few minutes each. They focus on environmental themes, highlighting the impact of human activity on nature and adding a more reflective layer to the attraction.

So, is it worth going?

Exploria is impressive to look at and easy to enjoy, but it leans more towards atmosphere than depth. It succeeds as an immersive visual experience and a comfortable indoor alternative to Mandai’s outdoor parks, especially for date nights, families or anyone who simply wants something different.

That said, the interaction is still fairly limited and the experience may feel short for the price. If you are expecting something highly educational or deeply interactive, this may not fully deliver.

The best way to think of Exploria is as a polished, nature themed multimedia attraction rather than a traditional wildlife park. It is worth visiting once for the visuals and the experience, but it is probably not the kind of place most people will rush back to.
