This Dragon Boat Festival, Peach Blossoms has unveiled what only the families in Crazy Rich Asians would probably buy without blinking: a S$140 bak zhang sealed inside clay and cracked open like treasure at the dinner table.
Honestly, if luxury fashion brands ever entered the bak zhang business, this is probably what they would sell.
Why Is It S$140?
Officially named the Blazing Pig Trotter Rice Dumpling, this limited edition creation weighs around 1kg and comes packed with:
- abalone
- braised pig trotter
- Hokkaido dried scallops
- Japanese flower mushrooms
- chestnuts
- fermented bean curd
The entire dumpling is then sealed inside a baked clay shell designed to trap all the aroma before being dramatically cracked open tableside during serving.
At this point, this feels less like festive food and more like a luxury unboxing experience.
There Are Also Dumplings For The Traditional Crowd
If your family members think modern bak zhangs are becoming too chaotic, Peach Blossoms is also bringing back its more classic favourites.
The Premium XO Cantonese Rice Dumpling (S$69.80) comes loaded with abalone, Kurobuta pork belly and dried seafood, while the Traditional Five Spices Kurobuta Pork Belly Rice Dumpling (S$39.80) delivers more familiar flavours with dried oyster, salted egg yolk and chestnuts.
This is exactly the kind of food Singaporeans become obsessed with because it combines luxury, chaos, spectacle and social media bait all at once.
Here’s How To Get Some Discounts
