Grab has launched Singapore’s first driverless mini bus service in Punggol — and while rides are currently free, not everyone can try it just yet.
Autonomously Intelligent Ride (Ai.R)
WeRide developed this mini bus shuttle service, marking the first time driverless vehicles operate in a residential estate in Singapore.
The service runs on fixed routes around Punggol. Multiple passengers can share each ride. You book it through the Grab app if you have access. Each vehicle still has a safety operator onboard. Remote operators also monitor the fleet. The system is autonomous, but humans remain in control. It sits between a public bus and a private hire ride, offering a new way to get around Punggol.

How to book and who can try it
Rides are currently free until June 2026, but the service is still in a pilot phase.
This means only selected users can access it for now, and the Ai.R option will only appear in the Grab app if you’ve been granted access.
Grab is expected to gradually open up more slots over time.
For now, it might be one of the few times you can step into a “Grab”… and realise no one is driving.
