Sentosa is getting a Tang Dynasty makeover this Lunar New Year. From 22 January to 14 February 2027, Palawan Green will feature hanfu dress-ups, Xi’an-inspired street food, carnival games and traditional Chinese experiences.
Called The Great Tang: By The Sea, the festival draws inspiration from Datang Everbright City, a famous Chinese attraction that welcomed more than 86 million visitors in 2025.
What Is Datang Everbright City?
If you’ve visited Xi’an or watched travel videos of the city, you might recognise Datang Everbright City. It’s one of China’s most famous Tang Dynasty-themed attractions.
Stretching 2.1km, the pedestrian district features Tang-style architecture, illuminated streets, traditional costumes, performances and plenty of food. Visitors can soak in the atmosphere of ancient Chang’an, the historic capital that flourished during the Tang Dynasty.
For Lunar New Year 2027, elements of this famous attraction will travel outside China for the first time. The Singapore edition will blend Tang Dynasty influences with local Nanyang culture, bringing Chinese heritage and Southeast Asian traditions together.

Dress Up In Hanfu & Experience Ancient Chinese Culture
Always wanted to dress up in traditional Chinese costumes but never had the chance to visit China? You can look forward to trying hanfu right here in Singapore.
The festival will also offer hands-on workshops, cultural activities and traditional crafts.
Rather than simply viewing historical displays, visitors can take part in activities and discover Chinese traditions for themselves.

Xi’an Street Food Vendors Are Expected To Come To Singapore
Selected food vendors from Xi’an are expected to travel to Singapore. They’ll introduce visitors to flavours inspired by the city’s famous Muslim Quarter.
Xi’an’s food culture reflects centuries of exchange along the ancient Silk Road. Its Muslim Quarter is especially famous for its street food and distinctive local flavours.
Alongside Xi’an-inspired dishes, visitors can also enjoy familiar Singaporean and Southeast Asian favourites. The festival will offer halal-certified options too, giving Muslim families and visitors more dining choices.

Sentosa Will Also Have Festive Lights, Zodiac Readings And Auspicious Goats
The Tang Dynasty festival won’t be Sentosa’s only Lunar New Year attraction. Sentosa Development Corporation has also announced plans for zodiac readings, auspicious goats at Sensoryscape and festive lighting displays.
Visitors can extend their outing beyond Palawan Green to explore more festive attractions around the island. Those planning a longer getaway can even consider a Sentosa staycation.
The festival runs until 14 February 2027, giving visitors plenty of opportunities to explore before and during the Lunar New Year celebrations.
