Singapore to expect rainy days for first two weeks of February, bring an umbrella to house visiting

Showers and thunderstorms are expected in the first two weeks of February.

Singapore to ring in 2022 with cool and rainy days: Met Service - CNA

The highest temperature on average is between 25°C and 30°C. This can be good news especially when Singapore is a hot and humid country!

However, make sure to take an umbrella with you when you go for house visiting over Chinese New Year! You wouldn’t want to appear drenched…

Newly revamped Sweetea Caffe features more Insta-Worthy spots and new menu

Sweetea Caffe has recently revamped with new menu items, beautiful decorations and NEW Instagram-worthy spots.

Located in the vicinity of Chinatown, Sweetea Caffe is a hidden shophouse cafe that you definitely should check out. It is a 3 storey cafe that offers a wide range of food!

Food Highlights

They have a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, a la carte dishes, desserts and even a high tea set.

NEW High tea set

If you have previously visited this cafe, the high tea set consists of mainly sweet treats. Now, there is a good mixture of sweet and savoury!

We tried the NEW Signature Hightea Set ($48.80) and it comes in a fanciful looking cage with delicious pastries.

The top tier consists of the Asparagus Devil’s Eggs with Homemade Recipe Cream and Tuna Cream with Celery Sticks.

The middle tier consists of the Chocolate Salami, infused with some alcohol. The alcohol taste blends in well with the chocolate, giving it a good balance and not being so sweet.

The bottom tier consists of Caviar Lemon Tarts and assorted cheese skewers. Our favourite treat is the Caviar Lemon tart as the lemon balance out the flavours really well and it just melts in your mouth!

Overall, the newly revamped high tea menu has a good balance of sweet and savoury treats.

Main course and oyster platter

For the mains, one of their highlights would be the Signature Seafood Spaghetti ($23).  Visually speaking, the presentation of the food is gorgeous! The pasta is made in squid ink sauce, tossed with herbs, squid, prawns, crab claws and some uni sauce. Once again, the flavours are really unique– especially the uni sauce.

Also, if you are looking for your next oyster spot, this may be the go-to spot for you!

Although we had not eaten oysters before and are not huge fans, this one changed our impression of oysters! It did not have a fishy smell as we thought.  The fresh Oyster Platter (6 pieces for $18.80), 12 pieces for ($33.80), goes really well with the drinks they served too.

Revamped Cafe

Upon entrance, you will be greeted by a vibrant neon light display leading you up to the cafe.

The whole vibe of the cafe is retro and tranquil– perfect for a date night or afternoon tea with your loved ones. You can choose to sit both indoors and outdoors– but feel free to explore both areas!

We would highly recommend you to sit at the outdoor balcony, where you can catch a beautiful view of Chinatown. If you are lucky, you can catch the sunset too!

Best photo spots in the cafe

Next up, another popular photo spot in the cafe would be the Hoegarden beer counter stand.

The balcony is a photo spot not to be missed out on. It’s time to grab a drink and pose for a classy and effortless Instagram photo!

Lastly, don’t waste a good photo opportunity at the entrance as the light displays can illuminate your feed!

1-for-1 promotion

Each beverage is uniquely crafted out with special ingredients. The cocktails are priced from $24 to $26 and mocktails are priced from $15 to $18.

Our favourite drink would be Pink Time ($15) — a sweet based drink infused with lychee bubblegum. It is a unique flavour that we couldn’t find elsewhere!

The Green Emerald ($18) stood out to us as well. If you are not a fan of sweet drinks, this one comes in a sour base. It is infused with Kiwi Lemon Passionfruit and the taste reminds us of the Sparkling Apple drink.

They are currently having a 1-for-1 promotion on all cocktails (12 to 8 pm) and mocktails (12 to 4 pm)! This means that you can now enjoy a glass of mocktail from just $7.50 and a glass of cocktail from just $12!

Whether is it for a date night, casual dining or a high tea spot, this is definitely a must-visit spot! Find out more about Sweetea Caffe on their Instagram and Facebook page!
