The world’s first Chatuchak Night Market outside Thailand will be coming to Singapore for two months from 7 February to 2 April 2023.
This open-air market will open from Tuesdays to Sundays from 4.30pm to 10.30pm at The Grandstand South Carpark on Turf Club Road in Bukit Timah.
The market will have more than 180 different vendors selling street food, handicrafts, and antiques. Some of these vendors are original vendors flying in from the original venue in Bangkok.
In addition, there will also be around 200 seats for visitors to chill and soak in the vibrant atmosphere.
Here are some of the vendors we can look forward to:
CHA-CHAK THAI TEH TARIK (SATUN PROVINCE)
The Cha Chak (Thai milk tea), which is priced at SGD$4, comes with a tea-pulling performance by the vendor from Thailand’s southern province of Satun.
Besides the classic, they also offer Thai Green Milk Tea, Coffee, and Cocoa, all for SGD$4 each.
THAI ROTI PRATA (SATUN PROVINCE)
The Thai roti prata is slightly thinner, more yellow and chewier. Remember to try their signature dish, the Banana Roti (SGD$5.00).
The rotis are freshly prepared on the spot using butter instead of oil, and cooked till golden brown. It is then drizzled with a generous amount of condensed milk and cut into tiny squares which makes it easier for
sharing.
E-SARN SAUSAGE (NORTH-EASTERN THAILAND)
This sausage is unique to the E-Sarn part of North-eastern Thailand.
These grilled sausages are made from fermented meat, rice, and sometimes vermicelli noodles.
It is always served with a bunch of cabbage, fresh chilli peppers & dilled
ginger. There are 2 options when buying from a street vendor – One
is just plain grilled and the other with a sour taste to it.
Getting There
There will also be complimentary parking or free shuttle buses from Botanic Gardens, Clementi, and Toa Payoh.
