2 Days NS Boot Camp for ladies back by demand

The popular 2 days NS Boot Camp for ladies will be conducted from 7 to 8 September 2019. Registration is currently open.

Overwhelming Demand

The SAF and Ang Mo Kio Women’s Executive Committee introduced this women’s boot camp for the first time last year and it was very well received. Approximately 1,000 women were vying for the 100 slots available.

What to expect for the Boot Camp

The ladies will get to experience weapon handling, urban operations training, standard obstacle course and route march.

They will also get to taste the field pack ration, cookhouse food and sleep in a military bunk.

This boot camp is only for female Singapore citizens or Permanent residents above the age of 13.

Taiwan singers Liang Wen Ying, Xu Jia Ying, A-Lin to hold combined concert at Indoor Stadium

They are some of the most popular singers in Mandopop music.

On 10 August 2019, vocal powerhouse A-Lin (黄丽玲), together with Golden Melody award winner Xu Jia Ying  (徐佳莹) and singing reality show, Million Stars, winner Rachel Liang  (梁文音) would join forces to put up a concert at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Aptly titled We are Singers, these three singers had previously enjoyed popularity in various reality TV singing competitions. Concert goers would get to enjoy both their hit songs and songs they performed during the competition.

Japan’s Fluffy Soufflé Pancake Company Opens in Vivocity

Japan’s most famous and fluffy soufflé pancake company, Gram Pancakes Singapore, is finally opening its flagship store at Vivocity on 16 June.

Their original soufflé pancakes, also known as the Premium Pancakes (S$17.90) is a stack of three jiggly discs, each 4cm thick. They are served with house-made butter, whipped cream and maple syrup.

The Premium Pancakes are prepared upon order and sales are only limited to 30 servings, three times a day at 1100hr, 1500hr, and 1800hr. Each person is also limited to one order, giving the premium name even more exclusivity.

However, even if you are not able to try the original Premium Pancakes, there are also other sweet and savory, classic thin pancakes to lay your hands on.

The other selections include fruits and chocolate pancakes (S$15.90), caramelized banana pancakes (S$13.90), coconut custard pancakes (S$13.90) and tiramisu pancakes (S$15.90).

Alternatively, you can also have your pancakes served English breakfast style –  turkey bacon and scrambled eggs ($18.90), chilli beans with cheddar, sausage, and potato ($18.90), or smoked salmon and avocado ($19.90).

For the creative and free-spirited, you can also customize your pancakes with a variety of sauces, fruits and ice-cream.

Aloysius Pang’s final drama series is now out on Toggle

Described by his colleagues as a hardworking actor, the accident involving actor Aloysius Pang, which led to his untimely demise came as a shock to many.

Prior to this unfortunate incident, Aloysius had traveled to China, Mongolia and Russia for a drama series titled From Beijing to Moscow (北京到莫斯科).

This final 13-episode film of Aloysius premieres today (13 June) on Toggle.

About the show

Aloysius plays Kenneth who helps his friend, Kaixiang, recovers his memory after a car accident. Together, they begin on an adventure from Beijing to Moscow, hoping to jot the latter’s memory.

Remaining part of Jewel Changi Airport Canopy Park is now open to the public

The remaining 8 features at level 5 of the Jewel Changi Airport Canopy Park is now fully open. The 14,000 sqm indoor park offers visitors playing attractions, garden and walking trails.

This article takes you through these attractions.

1. Canopy Bridge

Have you wondered where is the best vantage point to take a good shot of the Rain Vortex? This 50-meters long Canopy Bridge, located at the topmost level (Level 5) could be the answer. It is 23-meters above ground with glass flooring in the middle of the bridge. Definitely not for the acrophobia.

2. Manulife Sky Net

Visitors has 2 options at the Manulife Sky Net – Walk or Bounce. The walking net is suspended across the fifth storey (25-meters) in the Canopy Park. The bouncing net is 250-meters in length and 8-meters at its peak.

5. Discovery Slide

This giant sculptural playscape acts not only as a playground but also a 6.5-meters tall viewing deck that overlooks the Shiseido Forest Valley.

6. Foggy Bowls

One of the hot favorites amongst the kids – The Foggy Bowls feature four concave areas emitting gentle bowl of mist onto the grass carpet. This feature is supposed to simulate the experience of playing amongst the cloud.

7. Topiary Walk

The topiary trail is a selfie-paradise featuring wildlife animal structures hidden in the park. Some of these animals include orangutan, elephant, crocodile, peacock and chameleon.

8. Petal Garden

The Petal Garden is a beautiful display of seasonal flowers. This attraction is inclusive in the Canopy Park’s admission pass.

McDonald’s giving free breakfast to dads this fathers day weekend

On 15 and 16 June, selected McDonald’s stalls in Singapore will be offering free breakfasts to fathers from 8am to 12pm.

New water park opens at Yishun and admission is free

From this month, Yishun has a new 5,600 square meters water park attraction next to Block 307 Yishun Central featuring 3 main splash zones.

One of the key water installation is the 3.5 metres tall structure that sprays water in all directions. There are also built-in water guns built around the water park for a “Songkran water fight”. For the young, between 2 to 12 years old, there is also a wading pool.

There are also drinks and ice-cream vending machines, hot water dispenser, shower and toilet facilities, nursery room and sheltered area.

Rainforest Lumina Opens at Singapore zoo on 14 June 2019

The second season of Rainforest Lumina will open at the Singapore Zoo on 14 June 2019. This year, the Rainforest Lumina has more than 10 multi-sensory zones that allows visitors to interact with the light installations.

The 1km night walk combines modern light, projection and audio technology with the sights, sounds and scents of the rain-forest at night. The walking paths are well-lit and is suitable for wheelchairs, mobility devices, and strollers/ prams.

It takes approximately 45 minutes to stroll through the trail.
