A chicken rice stall at Redhill is giving away 1,000 plates of chicken rice to Singaporean seniors and subsequently, selling its chicken rice at only S$0.54.

This promotion is happening this coming Saturday (3 August) and is for dine in only.

NRIC is required for verification purposes and each senior is entitled to one plate of discounted chicken rice.

There is now a 2 days event to help elders match-make and pursue their interest

The Council for Third Age, C3A, will be organizing a special event at the National Library Events Plaza to help elders pursue their passion and interest.

The event, which is happening today and tomorrow (2 & 3 Aug 2019), will also see special performances by seniors.

In addition, more than 1,000 course titles are also available from 30 participating education institutions and community-based organizations for seniors to sign up. Most of these courses can be paid using SkillsFuture Credits.

There are also experiential activities such as soap making, aromatherapy, urban permaculture, 3D printing, crochet, stage talks on various topics, demonstrations, games and more for the attendees.

President Halimah Yacob will also be gracing this event.

Japanese Summer Festival at National Stadium has more than 100 booths of authentic Japanese F&B and Pokemon Carnival

The second edition of the Japanese Summer Festival will be back on 7 & 8 September 2019 at the National Stadium.

Touted as “the largest Japanese cultural and fun-play event in Singapore”,  this festival features over 100 booths selling authentic Japanese food and beverage. Some of this year’s highlights include the Wagyu Rice Burgers, Deep-fried Cheese Mochi, Okonomiyaki and Yakisoba.

Besides merchandise and games, festival-goers can also join in a J-Pop Fitness Dance Jam session. Families can also get a taste of kart racing with the Family Pedal Go-Kart.

Pokémon Carnival

Japan’s most famous Pocket Monsters, Pokemon would also be making an appearance at the Summer Carnival with six carnival games.

In addition, the Pikachu Dance Parade will also be happening at 1700hr on both days.

All-day stage performances

There are also performances featuring Japanese dance and theatrical shows on the open-air stage from 2.50pm.

From 6.30pm to 8.30pm, the Japanese tradition dance, Bon-Odori will also take place.

Yukata Rental & Try-Outs

There will also be rental services for festival-goers to try on Japan’s traditional summer garment, the Yukata.

Singapore’s social enterprise landscape is set to change with more young people being vocal about social causes. One evidence is the return of Singapore’s social cause music festival.

Titled Music for a Cause 2019, this festival features 13 local bands. Headliners for this year’s concert includes Joanna Dong and Charlie Lim.

Singapore fast food restaurant startup lets you dip your fries in the ice-cream

Local fast food startup restaurant, Shake Shake In a tub opens its flagship stall today (27 July 2019) at North Point City.

Their fries are prepared upon order and are available in eight flavors: mala, cheese, sour cream & onion, truffle, salted caramel, kimchi, BBQ and curry.

However, perhaps the most epic combination would be soft serve with fries. According to the company, this combination is a sweet reminder of the childhood guilty pleasure of dipping fries into ice-cream.

Besides fries, the restaurant is also selling buffalo wings, Korean wings and popcorn chicken. These dishes also comes with seasoning.

The company is also opening their second outlet at Suntec City very soon.

Premium Japanese Matcha dessert chain opens first Southeast Asia outlet at Suntec City

Premium Japanese matcha dessert chain, 108 Matcha Saro has opened its first Southeast Asia outlet at Suntec City today (26 July 2019).

The take-away store, which resembles a traditional ancient Japanese teahouse, features four different live stations where shoppers can watch staff make Warabi-mochi, Obanyaki, Matcha and assembling parfaits and soft serve.

Best selling dessert is Obanyaki

The store’s best selling item, Obanyaki comes in 5 different flavours and each retails from  S$2.90.

Warabi-mochi (S$4.90)

108 Matcha Saro also offers warabi mochi at eight pieces for S$4.90. The mochi comes in two flavours: soybean powder warabi mochi and the matcha powder warabi mochi.

Suntec City celebrates National Day with a mega retro carnival

Only this and next weekends, Suntec City is organizing a nostalgic carnival, which allows Singaporeans to relive the 80s through old school snacks and food.

The Game Zone

There are two game zones, located at level one of the East and West wings.

At the East wing, children gets to take part in  free play activities like Kuey Kuey Bouncy Castle, Giant Snake & Ladder and Giant Pick Up Sticks.

There are also other ticketed game booths which you can redeem free game coupons using Suntec City mall receipts. (Min. spending S$54)

There is also “Ah Ma House” exhibit, which is a replica of homes in the 80s.

At the West wing, shoppers get to relive the kampong memories with traditional games like Five Stones, Chapteh, Goli, Zero-Point and more.

The Old School Biscuit Buffet (S$2 Only!)

Located at the East wing, shoppers just need to pay S$2 to fill up a bag with their favourite old-school snacks from traditional biscuit tins.

McDonalds goes Japanese with Seaweed Shaker Fries, Samurai Burgers & matcha Ice-cream today

McDonald’s Singapore is introducing three Japanese themed food items on its menu from today (25 July 2019).

Here are the items:

Samurai Burger (From S$6.10)

The Samurai burger comes with either chicken or beef patty. The meat is then coated with Teriyaki sauce, topped with lettuce, mayonnaise and two sesame steamed buns.

The Single Samurai Burger retails from S$6.10 and the Double Samurai Burger is S$8.10.

Seaweed Shaker Fries (Comes with Samurai Meal)

The seaweed shaker fries is part of the Samurai Special Meal (From S$8.90). It consist of a Samurai Burger, large fries and medium green tea. Diners can also top up S$0.70 to get the shaker fries with other Extra Value Meal.

Matcha-flavoured ice-creams (From S$1.10)

The selection of Matcha dessert consist of Matcha Cone (S$1.10), Matcha Twist Cone (S$1.10), Matcha Hot Fudge Sundae (From S$2) and the brand new Matcha Dip McFlurry (From S$3.10).
