Free Online HIIT Gym classes ranked according to intensity for you to exercise at home

With gyms and stadiums closing due to the Circuit Breaker, online fitness classes are quickly filling in the gap, with many providing complimentary lessons.

These classes are normally 30 minutes in duration, very high intensity (duh, it’s HIIT), requires just a small amount of space and your body weight and can help burn lots of calories.

We ranked these HIIT classes in order of intensity so you can begin losing that Covid-fat.

Tom Daley (For Beginners)

Olympian Tom Daley started creating HIIT content recently during the lock-down and uploads them onto his Youtube channel.

Most of his exercises (so far) are relatively easy but packs a quick burn. Besides, he does the exercises with you, topless. 😉

Jordan Yeoh (For Intermediate)

Malaysian celebrity fitness instructor, Jordan Yeoh has been doing online fitness coaching for some time.

He currently has a paid online fitness program you can sign up for. However, recently, he has started Facebook Live HIIT content where you can burn some fats with you. He too, trains topless. 😉

Fitness First (For Intermediate)

Fitness First shut all of its outlets last month due to Covid-19. However, it’s Facebook Page is constantly being updated with Facebook Live sessions of gym instructors conducting classes like Les Milles body combat, HIIT classes, Yoga and more.

Fire Station (For Intermediate)

The sister company of Fitness First, Fire Station offers free online circuit classes using mostly body weights. Most of their Facebook Live session happens at 8am, Singapore timing.

Singapore Sports Hub introduces FREE online workout classes

To encourage Singaporeans to stay active during the Circuit Breaker period, the Singapore Sports Hub will be launching a series of online workout sessions today (17 April 2020) at 7pm.

These sessions are in 7-minutes intervals and the general public will be able to participate these complimentary exercise at anytime of the day from the comfort of their own homes.

These classes range from cardio, mind-body, strength, endurance and conditioning and can be personalized to suit everyone’s fitness level to achieve moderate to high intensity workout.

Here’s the schedule of the classes:

Participation Rewards

The first 800 participants who signs up will be rewarded with a Sports Essential Kit (Worth S$25) or supermarket vouchers.

In addition, the Singapore Sports Hub is running an online contest where participants stand a chance to take home a Garmin ForeRunner245 Smartwatch (Worth S$459) by tagging friends in the #7x7workouts and @SGSportsHub.

Korean boyband BTS to hold free online concerts on 18 & 19 Apr 2020

BTS’s Map of the Soul Tour was set to kickoff in Seoul this weekend but the concerts were cancelled due to Covid-19 outbreak.

To give fans the opportunity to experience a BTS concert this month, the group will be live-streaming a free concert series on their Youtube page (@BANGTANTV) called Bang Bang Con this weekend on 18 & 19 April 2020 at Singapore time 11am.

In addition, fans will be able to connect their BTS light stick like the live concert.

More thundery showers in late mornings for the last 2 weeks of April in Singapore

According to the Meteorological Service Singapore, more thundery showers can be expected between the late morning and afternoon of the last two weeks of April 2020.

On some days, the thundery showers could extend into the evening.

However, the daily temperatures are expected to range between 24°C to 34°C on most days. The daily highest temperature could also reach 35°C on a few days of the next two weeks.

Shilin Night Market Singapore returns in June 2020 as a digital festival

The Shilin Night Market in Singapore which saw an overwhelming crowd at the Turf Club’s carpark last year will be back this year over two weekends, on 12 to 14 June and 19 to 21 June.

This year, with safety social distancing in place, the festival will be going online with many different streams happening concurrently.

According to the organizer, the food will be delivered to you while you see it cooked right before your eyes. In addition,  you can also enjoy various live-stream sessions of performances.

NParks introduces map showing realtime crowd at public parks

Even though the circuit breaker law is in place, it is still legal to step out of your house to the nearest park to exercise alone or with members of your household.

To further encourage social distancing, NPark has introduced a map that shows real time statistics of how crowded the park is. Here’s how it looks like:

Singapore’s 4th Telco TPG Telecom offering 50GB Data SIM-only Plan for S$10

Singapore’s newest telecom, TPG Telecom recently introduced its first new SIM-only, prepaid plan.

Dubbed as the “best-value no-contract plan”, this S$10 plan comes with 50GB data, 300 minutes local call time, 30 SMS, free caller ID, free incoming calls and incoming SMS.

In addition, TPG Telecom is also offering free 1GB roaming to “selected countries” from May 2020.

  • S$1/additional GB
  • S$0.01/ 30 seconds of additional call time
  • S$0.05/ additional SMS

This subscription is valid for 30 days for SIM-only customers and will be automatically renewed.

In terms of coverage, customers can only use the service when they use a 4G-ready (supporting LTE 2300MHz/900MHz) handset or device. TPG also said that it has limited coverage in tunnels but improvements are currently ongoing.
